Holiday Cocktails: Ingredients and Instructions to Make Drinks to Enjoy While Trapped at Home

With BC now in an extended mini lockdown (thanks Surrey), cabin fever is starting to get to all of us. One of the best ways to counteract cabin fever is to learn some new things. Learning how to make some awesome Christmas themed cocktails is one of the best ways to occupy your time for these ongoing, otherwise, dreadful weeks. These are some really easy cocktails you can whip up for the people in your family, your roommates, or anyone else living in your household/core bubble.

Easy Spiked Hot Chocolate

Who doesn’t love hot chocolate? Hot chocolate is a Christmas staple, and an easy way to make it even better is by adding some booze to it. You can whip these up with any of your favourite hot chocolate mixes that you’ve got on hand, I personally like Godiva hot chocolate the best.

2 OZ of Baileys Original Irish cream or Peppermint Schnapps

Hot Chocolate

1 OZ of Whipped Creaming

Shaved Chocolate (for topping)

For this, all you need to do is brew your favourite hot chocolate and stir in two ounces of Baileys or peppermint schnapps. Top with whipped cream and some chocolate shavings. You won’t even be able to taste the alcohol in this.

Sex on the Snow

2 OZ of White Chocolate Liqueur

1 OZ of Rum

0.5 OZ of Ginger Liqueur (optional)

Crushed Candy Cane (optional)

Simple Syrup (optional)

Gingerbread cookie (for extra goodness)

This cocktail is absolutely to die for, it is seriously so delicious and it definitely will get a good buzz going for you and your crowd. To start, you’ll want to pour a bit of simple syrup (one part water, one part sugar), into a bowl big enough to hold the rim of your mug. The second step, would be to dip the mug into the simple syrup, and then dip it into your crushed candy canes. Using two glasses, shake together ice, chocolate liqueur, rum, and ginger liqueur. Strain into your mug, and enjoy! Dip a gingerbread cookie into it for some extra goodness.

*If this is too strong for you, feel free to top it off with a bit of half & half, or cream.

1.5 OZ of Vodka

1 OZ of Green Apple Schnapps

0.25 OZ of Lemon Juice

Simple Syrup (optional)

Crushed Candy Cane (optional)

With two glasses, shake together vodka, green apple schnapps, lemon juice, and ice. Rim your serving glass with simple syrup (one part water, one part sugar), then with the crushed candy cane. Strain the mixture into your serving glass (preferably a martini glass) and enjoy!

Candy Apple Shots

1 OZ of Apple Schnapps

1 OZ of Fireball

This tastes so much like a candy apple, it is insane. It’s also so easy to make. Combine the two ingredients into a large shot glass and serve!

Christmas Mimosa

3 OZ of Champagne

1.5 OZ Pomegranate Liqueur

1.5 OZ of Cranberry Juice

Frozen/Fresh Cranberries (optional)

This is served best during brunch. In your serving glass, which would preferably be a champagne flute, stir together the cranberry juice and pomegranate liqueur. Top with champagne and garnish with cranberries. Enjoy!
