Connecting People Over Food – Dyne | Meet New People & Make New Friends Over Food!

It’s been close to 6 months since people have been encouraged to isolate on their own, but it feels like it’s been an eternity. During that time many people have found out that there are 2 things that they dread living without – eating out and socializing with other people. Lucky enough, there is a new local start up company that’s looking to tackle these 2 issues, especially during these unprecedented Covid-19 times.

Dyne connecting people over food

The idea behind their app is genius, in the sense that it connects people over a universally-beloved activity eating out. Their app will work to connect “like-minded people who share the same interest, passion and hobbies”. During an interview, their Dyne representative went on to explain “during this socially distant world, all of us have adhered to the practices of staying indoors and lost a lot of time that could have been spent with friends. Dyne is a platform that encourages you to go and meet your friends one at a time while being socially responsible but not necessarily distant from your friends!”.

Cause let’s be real, who doesn’t love food, and who doesn’t like meeting new people? Even if you’re an introverted Sauder snake, it never hurts to expand your network some more.

Dyne’s app makes finding a good place to eat an easy process, while also matching you with someone who might just become your future spouse or best-friend. Maybe that’s a bit of a stretch, but you never know until you put yourself out there and meet people. Who knows, maybe your next best-friend is going to be someone that you bond with over an over-priced steak at the Point.

Everyone needs to eat at some point, so why not meet some new people while you’re at it! If you’d like to learn more about how their app works, or the story behind it, we strongly suggest you continue reading our full interview with a Dyne representative or visit this link here to learn more: https://campsite.bio/dyne

You can read the full interview and hear everything you need to know about Dyne straight from Dyne themselves, outlined in our interview below:

What is Dyne and how does it work?

Dyne is an interactive mobile platform that allows people to meet over food. The platform connects like-minded people who share the same interest, passion and hobbies. During this socially distant world, all of us have adhered to the practices of staying indoors and lost a lot of time that could have been spent with friends. Dyne is a platform that encourages you to go and meet your friends one at a time while being socially responsible but not necessarily distant from your friends!

Why did you decide to create Dyne?

We decided to create Dyne to engage and involve the student community in universities. On average, North American universities have a 78% rate of loneliness. We as students aspire to create a community which we can be proud of and somewhere where we can share our experience no matter where we come from. We have always seen that it’s fun to have people around you when you’re eating food, because who really wants to be eating alone? When we started going out, we noticed that the best way to meet people and bond with them is through food. At the end of the day who doesn’t like food and who doesn’t like meeting new people? However, given these times we urge people to meet responsibly and follow government guidelines when it comes to going out during COVID-19

What are your personal favorite places to eat on campus? Or if you were taking a new friend out for food where would you go?

As of right now, our favorite place on campus is Kokoro Ramen. It opened quite recently and has some great vibes, budget friendly and so much food variety - exactly what a student looks for!

We’re also big fans of uncle Fatih’s. It’s always so convenient to grab a pizza on the go if you’re in a rush and there are so many pizza options, we sometimes don’t know what to choose! It’s also one of the few places on campus that stays open until 2:00 am, so if you’re looking to fill your night time cravings it’s THE place to go!

In your opinion what is the best restaurant on campus to go for the social atmospheres?

On Campus, we would say the best place to go would be the Point. It’s always a nice break from residence food and fast food options on campus. Grab a beer with friends, eat some good food, play fun games and sit out on the patio when the weather is nice. What more could you ask for?

How will you be adapting the services throughout COVID-19, and keeping users safe?

During COVID-19, we believe it’s really important for our users to understand what the term “social distancing” means. Social distancing often refers to physical distancing, the appropriate term adopted by WHO. We urge people to be socially responsible and physically distance. Our meetups are catered to accommodate smaller groups of people with a recommended 1 on 1 meetup. Users will have to use masks during meetups and have sanitizers with them at all times. All our restaurant partners will be pre-approved by the BC Health Authorities for sanitation checks and hygiene practices. Our partners have guaranteed that they have gone through the government mandated training. Our app follows all the government and provincial laws when it comes to COVID-19 and we ask all of our users to take these same precautions to guarantee their own safety as well as any other user’s safety.
